Chicago-Style Drunksaling » Week #9: Maybe loitering at Gamestop is a better alternative. Posted on Monday August 25, 2003
Written by peccaui.

Back in the day when Chicago didn't resemble the arctic tundra, unitdaisy and I were so inspired by drunkgamers.com's garagesaling adventures that we went out about Chicago, scrounging for games.

peccaui: This week was a real slummer of a time. I think we straggled through 95+ degrees for four sales. Luckily we found a few odds and ends.

unitdaisy: I need a parasol and a scooter if we are going to continue this.

peccaui: PC Gamepads are for the weak. I play my games with a ball of twine and a stick!

unitdaisy: They say people begin to look and act like their pets - I see...

peccaui: #9 ... *belch* ... #9 ... *belch* #9 ...

unitdaisy: I am so glad you didn't pick this up.

peccaui: This is what happens when hippies go out of business. Sad isn't it?

unitdaisy: We could have bought pottery and a kiln!

peccaui: Ah, the objects that made unitdaisy see dollar signs. Check for her listing under 'Useless Crap' on eBay.

unitdaisy: Someone will want them, someone with a tru-vue viewer, so many happy 3D memories for them to explore!

peccaui: Around this time I was getting sick of seeing tacky Hawaiin shirts, porcelain figurines and pulp romance novels so we swung by Gamestop just to ensure that we'd have something interesting to play. Low and behold, they're having a huge Soul Calibur 2 promotion - and just look at those that are biting!

unitdaisy: Peccaui, too, but he cut himself out of the picture, trying to keep the fanboyism he shares with women and children a secret. Happy to note peccaui was unable to purchase their used copy of Seaman because the employes couldn't find the microphone. Who stole the Seaman microphone!?!?

peccaui: After I had picked up a copy of Golden Sun: The Lost Age we ran across town to another thrift store and found this little gem staring at us. Unfortunately, we failed to follow our own rules and didn't bother checking to see if the game was actually in it's case. Yes, someone stole the DOA girls. No big loss.

unitdaisy: The thrift store was kind enough to let us return it though, a rare act of humanity.

peccaui: The less said the better.

unitdaisy: Say! Say!

peccaui: Another orphaned game. Maybe another day.

peccaui: We capped our day off by going bowling and just look at who we ran into!

Find of the Week:
Nada

Zip, zilch - bupkis. And with the garage saling season starting to wind up it looks like the best is behind us. Perhaps there will be one final gasp, one great haul. Wish us luck with next week.

unitdaisy: Oh come on, find of the week was Mario! And he is a damn fine bowler as well!

Lesson of the Week:
When life gives you lemons, buy some new games.

Sadly, I believe that very beer bottle opener resides in one of our kitchen drawers. It makes noises. I don't want to hear noises when I'm opening my beer. Sometimes, through sheer desperation (lighters absent and alternative beer openers missing), I am driven to use it, and it is painful. For the love of god, stay away from this horrible offspring of Evil.

Keep on sailin and better luck next week! And you think talking beer bottle openers are bad, does anyone remember the talking beer cans? That, if you won, when you opened the can it said "Yooooou win!". I'm sure it confused a lot of drunks.

Oh yeah, and I searched on eBay and came up with nothing.... so they must not be posted yet.

You two always entertain me, any ideas on where to find some talking beer bottle openers? Don't let this ever die! I am awaiting next weeks...maybe you will see Mario at the bowling alley again. ;)

I <3 you two!

I've got that bottle opener, too. I think it's awesome. It doesn't sound anything like Homer, but it's loud enough so that anytime one of us opens a beer, the other is bound to come rushing in. It's like a cats hearing a can opener or something. Highly recommended!
